Olean/Libraries
The Olean Public Library board has approved four construction contracts totaling $8.75 million for its building expansion and renovation. The largest, for general construction, went to Kinley Construction of Allegany at about $6.39 million, and Kinley was the only firm to bid on that work. The library's director said the bids came in above estimates, something the board had anticipated. The project follows voters' 2025 approval of a $7.9 million bond.
Olean/Communal
Milling and paving of Front Street in Olean was set to begin Monday, Oct. 12. The street will stay open during the work, but parking restrictions will be in place. The city's Department of Public Works advised drivers to expect limited access and delays while crews are working. The project follows earlier fall paving on Seneca Avenue between Front and King streets.
